Minted 140-143 CE, RIC 63B, RSC 60, 18.5mm.
Rare reverse type depicting Apollo (only type issued for Antoninus Pius and none for Marcus Aurelius).

Obverse: ANTONINVS AVG PIVS PP TR P COS III, laureate head of emperor facing right.
Reverse: APOLLINI AVGVSTO (venerable Apollo), Apollo in long robe standing front, head left, holding patera in extended right hand and lyre in left hand.
Apollo is the only god in the classical pantheon to share the same name in both Greek and Roman traditions. The twin brother of Artemis or Diana, Apollo has many associations including the sun, music, archery, prophecy and healing. His symbols include the sun, a bow and arrow, a lyre, and a swan.
