- Reverse: MATER DEVM (Mother of the Gods), Cybele, towered, draped, seated left on throne, holding branch in extended right hand and sceptre in left hand, resting left arm on drum set on left knee; to either side of throne, a lion.
- Cybele, also known as the Magna Mater or Great Mother, was a Roman goddess associated with nature, fertility, motherhood, and agriculture. She was a personification of Mother Earth and was believed to have given life to animals, humans, and gods. An appropriate type for this Empress, the mother of the Severan Dynasty.
