  • Struck at Rome, approx. 18mm, 3.24g, RIC 159, RSC 435.
  • Dated denarius: TR P XX IMP IIII = Summer to Dec 166 CE.
  • Mature fully bearded portrait, well struck with full legends.
  • Well struck with nice surfaces, centered flan and full legends.
  • Certified by NGC XF Strike 5/5 Surface 4/5 (very high subgrades).
  • Obverse: M ANTONINVS AVG ARM PARTH MAX, laureate head facing right.  
  • Reverse: PAX in ex. TR P XX IMP IIII COS III, Pax standing left holding branch and cornucopia.
  • Pax was the goddess and personification of peace. Apparently a commemorative type to celebrate peace after the hard fought victories over the Parthians. VIC PAR types also minted during this date period.
