Early shield type minted between 1572 and 1589 at the Mexico City Mint (mint mark: M, Assayer: O).
Certified by NGC to AU 55.
Superb quality: well struck and centered on circular flan with nearly complete, readable legends, including: PHILIPPVS II.
Obverse: PHILIPPVS II DEI GRATIA, shield with arms of Spain, IIII to left and M O to right.
Reverse: HISPANIARVM ET INDIARVM RX, castle and lion in angles of cross.
