Almost Uncirculated James II Ireland Gun Money crown coin.
Struck for James II during his rebellion in Ireland after the "Glorious Revolution" of William and Mary.
"Gun Money" was an emergency coinage made from cannon, church bells, etc used for payment of the rebellion military.
Overstruck on large module half crown coin, portions of undertype are visible.
Obverse: James II mounted on trotting horse holding sword, JAC II DEI GRA MAG BRI FRA ET HIB REX (James II by the grace of God King of Great Britain, France and Ireland).
Reverse: Cross formed by crowned shields of Britain, Scotland, France & Ireland, in angles ANO DOM 16 90, CHRISTO VICTORE TRVMPHO (Victory of Christ's triumph).
