Rare Mint State Uncirculated Stolberg-Stolberg German State silver 1/24 thaler coin.
Struck to commemorate the 200th anniversary of the Reformation.

Chronogram is a phrase of which the roman-numeral letters (C,D,I,L,M,V,X) express a date when added together. (e.g. LorD haVe MerCIe Vpon Vs = 50+500+5+1000+100+1+5+5=1666). The order was irrelevant, the sequence IV stood for 1+5=6 and not for 4. On coins, the numerals are indicated in exaggerated capital Roman letters within the legend.
For this coin:M, V, V, L, L, D, I, I, V, C = 1000+5+5+50+50+500+1+1+5+100 = 1717.
Struck in Fine Silver = almost pure, no alloy.
Certified by PCGS to MS 62,Population Census: this coin, NONE higher.
Colorfully toned with underlying luster, very appealing in hand.
