  • Minted in Hadrian's 22nd (L KB =  year 22) Alexandrian year which corresponds to 137/8 CE.

  • A well struck high grade example with realistic portrait of the Emperor.

  • The Pronoia reverse type was used for Hadrian only in his year 22. 
  • Obverse: Right facing bust of Hadrian with drapery on far shoulder, titles in abbreviated Greek letters: IMP CAESAR TRAJAN HADRIAN AVG.
  • Reverse: Pronoia standing left holding Phoenix and scepter, legend in Greek letters PRONOIA, date letters L KB.
  • Pronoia was the Okeanid-nymph wife of the Titan Prometheus. She was a minor goddess of foresight.
